The Institute of Mechatronic Systems (imes) is part of the mechanical engineering department of the Leibniz Universität Hannover. The institute's research associates receive support by well equipped mechanical and electrical workshops. In order to carry out the research projects numerous laboratories with modern equipment are available.

The Institute of Mechatronic Systems (imes) is part of the mechanical engineering department of the Leibniz Universität Hannover. The institute's research associates receive support by well equipped mechanical and electrical workshops. In order to carry out the research projects numerous laboratories with modern equipment are available.

The imes works on both fundamental research and application oriented projects (often in close cooperation with industrial partners), characterized by a high degree of interdisciplinarity. Details can be found here.

The institute shows strong commitment to student education and gives lectures on mechanics, robotics, and mechatronics including mechatronics in automotive and medical applications.
