Einweihung der Modellfabrik

Inauguration of an automated model factory

After about six months of planning, construction and commissioning a new, fully automated model factory was inaugurated with employees, industry partners and students of the Institute on 12/11/2015. This plant allows for the simulation of a typical handling process under laboratory conditions, which includes close cooperation of different kinematics and other system modules. In addition to a scara robot, a delta kinematics and a KUKA Agilus industrial robot also a small rack feeders was implemented. In this new test facility a wide range of studies can be carried out in the various research fields of the institute such as minimization of energy demands for cooperated systems and reduction of vibrations based on online parameter identification. This system provides an ideal basis for comprehensive and application-oriented work with the most modern components in the new era of Industry 4.0. Related topics are operation of networked systems, analysis of large amounts of information (big data) using cloud computing and the pursuit for a "smart factory". Special thanks to both Lenze Engineering and the KUKA AG  for their kind provision of hardware, which has made this successful model factory possible.
