HYBERFLOW — enabling non-invasive flow rate feedback control in bioprinting via hydraulic actuation. Leon Budde, Julia Hundertmark, Tim Meyer, Thomas Seel, Daniel O.M. Weber
Bioprinting needs precise control over bioink flow to achieve reproducible, high-quality results. Traditional systems either do not monitor the flow at all or use a flow sensor that is in contact with the bioink, which increases the risk for contamination or damaging the cells. Our new system, HYBERFLOW, uses a hydraulic actuation fluid and real-time feedback control on the actuation fluid to regulate extrusion of the bioink without affecting the bioink. In tests, it kept flow deviations below 4% and produced consistent results even with bioinks of varying viscosities.
We thank the entire team, especially Julia and Leon, for their dedicated work. The collaboration and hard work have played a crucial role in this success.
