Course objective
The goal of the tutorial is to program industry-oriented applications using mobile robots. The event takes place as part of the Roboterfabrik. Participants work in teams to independently develop solutions to a given task related to mobile robotics and manipulation, allowing them to apply and reinforce the theoretical knowledge acquired during the course on real mobile robotic systems.
Course content
The applications to be developed during the 4–5 day block course involve challenges from various disciplines, such as manipulation, object recognition, localization, and navigation. Programming is carried out using the Robot Operating System (ROS) framework in the C++ programming language.
Materials
The lecture-related materials for the course "Hackathon Mobile Robotics" will be made available for download on Stud.IP throughout the course of the lecture. These include the script, exercises, exam materials, and supplementary literature.
Important notes
The tutorial is offered every semester during the lecture-free period.
Registration
You can sign up through the corresponding Stud.IP course.
There are 10 spots available. More details can be found on Stud.IP.
Recommended Background
It’s recommended that participants have taken Robotics I and Robotics II, and have some experience with object-oriented programming.
Roboterfabrik
This tutorial is part of the roboterfabrik project.
To position Hannover as a leading center for robotics, the Roboterfabrik project was launched in collaboration with the Hannover Region. The project takes a continuous education approach to developing “robotics natives,” starting in school (Roberta RegioZentrum) and continuing at university level (imes: mobile robotics, IRT: collaborative robotics).
