Course objective
The goal of this module is to apply and deepen the theoretical knowledge acquired in previous lectures and exercises through practical experience.
After successfully completing the module, students will be able to address problems and questions in the interdisciplinary fields of mechatronics, robotics, and automation technology.
Course content
The lab consists of several hands-on experiments conducted at different institutes within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. These experiments are organized into sections, each containing four individual experiments. Completing one section is equivalent to earning 2 credit points.
Master’s students in Mechatronics and Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or Energy Technology work in groups of four and choose two sections. After completing them successfully, they receive 4 credit points.
Students from programs such as Mechanical Engineering, Production and Logistics, or Biomedical Engineering can register for one section per group and earn 2 credit points. Each section is self-contained, meaning the experiments don’t build on each other and can be taken independently.
Lab registration
Lab registration takes place during the first week of the semester (starting April 1st), before the official lecture period begins!
Students should register directly via the respective Stud.IP group during the registration period.
Participation in the lab requires passing an online test. If you fail to complete the test (for any reason within your control), you will be excluded from the lab for the semester. Even students on the waiting list must pass the test; there is no admission without a passed test. Important preparation materials for the test are available here:

The course title in Stud.IP is: "Masterlabor Mechatronik (IRT)"
Important Note!
The lab is very time-intensive. If you have pending admission conditions (e.g., required prerequisite exams), participating in the lab may limit your ability to prepare for those exams. You may not participate in the lab if you have not yet fulfilled the conditions of your provisional admission. To prove that all conditions have been met, send a fully stamped clearance form ("Laufzettel") to the lab coordinator via email.
If the lab is reported to the Examination Office and your conditions have not been fulfilled, this will be treated as an attempt at deception.
