Course objective
At IMES, the tutorial "State and Parameter Estimation Using the Example of Longitudinal Vehicle Dynamics" takes place every summer semester. In this tutorial, students learn the material through practical computer exercises using MATLAB/Simulink.
After completing the tutorial, students will be able to:
- Mathematically describe the key characteristics of longitudinal vehicle dynamics
- Identify the physically motivated system parameters of the model using suitable identification methods based on measurement data, both offline and online
- Estimate unmeasurable state variables using stochastic estimation techniques
At the end, students work in small groups on their own project, applying the methods they have learned, and present their results.
Course content
- Identification of linear systems
- Modeling
- Global optimization
- Parameter identification
- Linear observers (Kalman filter)
- Nonlinear observers (Extended and Unscented Kalman filters)
- Online parameter estimation
Materials
The lecture-related materials for the course "State and Parameter Estimation Using the Example of Longitudinal Vehicle Dynamics" will be made available for download on Stud.IP throughout the course of the lecture. These include the script, exercises, exam materials, and supplementary literature.
Important notes
Registration is done exclusively through Stud.IP.
