Deep Learning Based Crack Detection From Inhomogeneous X-Ray Images for High Pressure Turbine Blades in Aviation

The paper identifies cracks in industrial X-ray images from aviation using deep learning. Compared to previous work, industrial X-ray images are inhomogeneous and show a high level of detail of turbine blades, so that cracks are often not recognizable for laymen. Our team was able to identify damage on inhomogeneous industrial X-ray images for the first time.
